supagold
I'm using a stock Asus 1201N, and I'm trying to follow the guide here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=209533 I've been running into an issue where I get a kernel panic at boot telling me I've got a kernel mismatch and my pm version isn't correct. (I'm reinstalling osx again right now, so I don't have the exact message.) I've narrowed it down to the /Extras installed by the "Asus 1201N Installer Package v4". I'm not sure what's going on. I believe I've followed the guide correctly. I'm using the default dsdt, since I've got 2GB of RAM. Obviously, I'm a noob at this, so I hope I'm not missing something simple. I've tried searching the forums and that thread. I'm reading through it, but it's got something like ~2300 posts, so it's taking awhile. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance! Most likely cause is SleepEnabler.kext What version of Snow Leopard are you trying to install? supagold
Most likely cause is SleepEnabler.kext What version of Snow Leopard are you trying to install? My install disk is for 10.6.0. All other software is the versions specified in the thread. EDIT: I see this both when I follow the guide all the way through installing the 10.6.4 combo update, and when I try to reboot on 10.6.0 before running the update. ruger42
My install disk is for 10.6.0. All other software is the versions specified in the thread. In /Extra file com.apple.Boot.plist change pmVersion=20 to pmVersion=0 This will bypass SleepEnabler.kext until you are ready to use it, I'm assuming you will be updating the OS. pmVersion=20 works only for Snow Leopard 10.6.4 pmVersion=21 works for Snow Leopard 10.6.5 and 10.6.6 There are instructions on how to modify the Boot.plist in the guide you're using... Thanks! That seemed to do the trick. I'm installing the 10.6.6 combo update now. I notice the boot plist included in the guide for 10.6.6 doesn't include a pmVersion entry at all. Does that mean no sleep? Should I just add the pmVersion=21? If you use all the files from the 10.6.6 guide, then you may not need SleepEnabler.kext (the DSDT file may take care of everything), so if the kext is not needed you don't need the pmVersion entry in the boot.plist. VanDangles
Yes there is sleep, the new Chameleon handles the P-States and C-States. Thats why you must use the new dsdt enclosed in the VMonHeros download link when updating to 10.6.6. Also look at hotKoffy's kext (posted in this newbies section) for enabling sound control after sleep through the hot keys. VanDangles
Did you get upto 10.6.6? Have you tried Facetime? Im having issues with mic not working on the app. Works fine everywhere else, i have made sure that mic settings in system settings are set to internal and there is input from the mic, also set mic to internal in video pref on the app itself but still no joy.
