I've been playing around with Release1 on a stock Dell XPS Gen4, Nvidia 6800, SATA, 925X chipset, 1gb ram, etc. Anyway, when going through the verbose mode, I get: can't load /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/NetInfo.framework/Resources/lookupd/Agents/Ds.bundle/Ds. (That's the only problem point during the whole part) Then it says that it can't mount either of my hardrives. It can mount my firewire drive and my ipod which is on USB2.0. Am I right to assume that the SATA is just not supported or...? It's a bummer, but it's not a big deal.

No, SATA IS currently supported. Have you tried booting with the -x or -f flags (safe mode, and reload configuration, respectivly) That may solve your problem.
