My goal was to make a mac mini equivalent for less than the $500 a mac mini costs.

 

I succeeded.

 

Hardware

* Foxconn 865M06-GV-6LS Motherboard (865GV/ICH5)

* Intel Celeron D 340 2.93GHz

* 512MB (2x256) PC2700 DDR Kingston HyperX (dual-chan)

* 40GB Maxtor IDE

* Pioneer DVR109 DVD-writer

 

Software

* Marklar-Tiger.iso (patched with Generic OSx86 Install DVD Patcher v.3 (aka "test3))

* Darwin ISO (for grabbing kext's)

* Knoppix STD (for finding some PCI device ID's before system was up)

 

Functionality

* Network: Works

* Sound: Works

* QuartzExtreme: Works

* CoreImage: In progress

* USB: Works (iPod syncs!)

* SSE3 Apps: Works

 

Benchmarks Taken from XBench :: Full results attached to post

* CPU Test: 18.38

* Thread Test: 79.37

* Memory Test: 69.53

* Quartz Graphics Test: 40.72

* OpenGL Graphics Test: 189.23

* User Interface Test: 22.19

* Disk Test: 35.60
