Since nobody is paying attention to my old topic...

I'm trying to get OS X 10.6 to work on any of my computers. I have tried the Nawcom Boot CD method with retail Snow Leopard on two different systems to no avail.

System 1

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T

6GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM

ATi Radeon HD 5870

Seagate 1TB

System installs SL fine. Cannot boot into SL as computer reboots after selecting HDD. Chameleon boot loader does not recognize harddisk.

System 2

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450

4GB DDR2 1066MHz

nVidia GTX 280

Seagate 1TB

System installs SL fine. Installs SL fine, cannot boot into SL as the monitor shuts off after the Apple loading screen. Using HDMI in, tried with VGA in which still has not resolved the problem.

I've tried quite a few guides but none of them yield any significant results.

Any help with either one?

If you can boot into the MacOS installer, then I'd try to decipher what boot loader, and what /boot and /mach_kernel and /Extra/ were on the boot device that allowed you to install. The smbios.plist (if you have one) or com.apple.Boot.plist may impact bootup too.

But if you are able to boot and install, that might be the first thing to try and disassemble how the installer from Vanilla media got to run in the first place. The other thing would be if you booted various flags, like arch=i386 (for 32-bit) as opposed to 64-bit.

Managed to get SL working on System 2. After I installed it, I managed to boot with the OS X CD and installed GTX 280 EFI strings/.kexts to prevent the monitor from shutting off during normal boot. After those installs, normal boot works fine.

Just missing audio drivers, ALC889A, which I'm sure can be resolved relatively easily.

Though I'm still curious as to why System I does not run at all.

Also, what is a DSDT?

Does make support S/PIDF or HDMI audio?

try a dvi to hdmi adapter.. or if only hdmi then try with bootflag in the chameleon menuscreen -v GraphicsMode=1024x768x32

my friend had same issue and it worked.

the audio uhh.. voodoohda or dsdt fix+ legacy kext + patched applehda might do trick.. check out x58a-ud3r rev 2
