Issue resolved:

My sister just got her new Macbook Pro today and was having a major problem connecting to her existing wireless network. Oddly the same thing started happening to me as soon as I started using SL. After searching and finding post after post about issues with certain Netgear routers I asked her what model she had. I was the same as mine. The newest firmware update was 6 years ago. I removed mine and installed my much older Linksys router (no wifi) and guess what? Smooth fast internet again :)

(I am posting this here due to new user posting restriction so I hope someone happens by that might be able to help)

Hello everyone :)

I have recently installed Snow Leopard and like many others are working out the kinks. My previous build was a 10.5.5 system that I has been solid for almost 2 years now. With the 10.5.5 build there were some issues that didn't really effect what I was doing or the equipment so I left it alone because it was stable.

This time around, with Snow Leopard, I wanted to get under the hood a little more and work on some of the issues. My first problem was with the video card. After researching I found out my ATI HD2600 Pro wasn't compatible. I had an old Nvidia 7300GS that I installed and although it doesn't have the performance of the HD2600 it "works" so until I can replace it it's fine for now. I have an ATI 5570 that according to a contributor was able to get working, however the info is very sparse in regards to it working with QE/CI or OpenCL. If anyone has any more info on this card working and being supported please let me know.

My equipment:

Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L Logic board

2.5GHz Intel Dual-Core E5200 processor

2GB DDR2 ram

Nvidia 7300GS 256MB video card

500GB Sata

Sony DL IDE DVD drive

I am currently running 10.6.1 that was installed using this guide by Blackosx:

He was using the EP45 which is a little different than mine, but was close enough to get very good results. However I have a bit of a mystery that I can't seem to pin down so I am looking for some insight or direction into figuring it out.

What is happening is my on board ethernet seems to "stall" quite frequently (it changes from page to page) and returns with a website is unavailable message. I have re-read his guide many many times and have gone over each thing in detail. I have also searched forum threads from many websites, but I can not find anything concerning this problem. The on board ethernet was working perfectly with 10.5.5. There has to be something obvious that I am overlooking.

I tried this package by Lnx2mac, but didn't seem to help at all. I installed it in the IONetworkfamily.kext on my Chameleon boot partition according to the Blackosx guide.

The system profiler lists the following under hardware > Ethernet Cards:

ethernet:

Type: Ethernet Controller

Bus: PCI

Vendor ID: 0x10ec

Device ID: 0x8168

Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x1458

Subsystem ID: 0xe000

Revision ID: 0x0002

Link Width: x1

Under Network everything appears to be normal. Like I said before the page will just stall and after a minute or two will load or tell me that it is unavailable which is very frustrating when you're trying to research :) Can someone point me in a direction to look? I am pretty sure that it is something obvious that I am overlooking due to me having looked at this 50 times :D

Thanks
