Hello

I've been lurking around here for a while but until now, I've never come across a problem that I couldn't solve by searching around and reading. Let me take this chance to thank everyone who contributes their time here - I've learned so much from all of you.

So far, I've installed OSX on 2 completely different PC systems, and I'm having exactly the same problem with both of them. The problem is with the audio: upon booting up, it works great, but after about half an hour, it slowly begins to degrade, until it becomes nothing but a random clicking static-like noise. I'm wondering if this is an extreme coincidence or if is a known issue, and if there is any way to solve the problem.

The first system is an older Gateway 835GM desktop, Pentium D 2.8Ghz, running Kalyway 10.5.2 and dual-booting with Windows XP. I have tried a whole bunch of different sound cards in it - no difference.

The second is an Asus G51VX-A1 laptop, Core 2 Quad 2Ghz, running iATKOS v7 and dual-booting with Windows 7. For audio I have used both the on-board audio and an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra external USB interface (I installed the M-Audio software/drivers). Again, same problem no matter what.

So - am I doing something wrong or missing something, or is this a weird coincidence?

Thanks for looking.
