Hi all. I'm currently attempting to get an updated 10.6.6 or 10.5.8 running on my Dell M4400. (Either one would be great, I just need the updated version to install things like Skype).

I first followed this guide:

but it appears that it for some reason will not work on my machine (doing the apple update causes me not to be able to boot up afterwards unfortunately, I get a gray screen with an Apple logo on it with a little white box with an X-ed out circle in it).

Then I went to attempt this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=194738

However, when I tried to use the boot 132 disc to boot to the SL disc installer, when I let the disc settle and hard disc stop spinning and ejected the boot 132 and placed the SL disc: upon hitting F5 to refresh it, the letters on the various options for bootable drives simply become blurred and it freezes up.

Now I am attempting this guide: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph..._Dimension_4400 However, at the moment, I do not where my Chameleon 2 Extras folder is located.. (I updated to the latest Chameleon but am unsure how to go about the step "Copy your entire chameleon 2 /extra folder to a usb Flash drive for later", because I've searched the hard drive for both Chameleon and Extra to no avail (does the mac search even search hidden files/folders?).

Anyway, I'd really appreciate a bit of assistance. Thanks for your time!
