Hey Guys,

This is my first post so... hello :). I just built a new PC (specs below) and have done a fresh install of 10.6, then combo updated to 10.6.6 and then used ##### after that. For some reason when I boot from my hard drive, My ethernet and sound kexts aren't working. They work if I boot off of my thumb drive with #####.

I'm using the latest #####, ##### and chameleon. In addition I've tried reinstalling the OS, the update and using ##### (with repair permissions and chache rebuild) with no luck. I think I'm just missing something really stupid.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

SPECS:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8600

Gigabyte G41M rev1.4

2 500G SATA partitions

Your hardware ethernet e sound?

VIA VT1708S codec High Definition Audio and Atheros AR8151.

I installed the lnx2mac realtek kext and several audio kexts that were reported to work but for some reason arent loading when I boot from the HD.

Thanks

Why did you think the realtek kext would work for the Atheros AR8151 device?

lnx2mac realtek won't load if the driver isn't meant for Atheros, that's how it's supposed to work.

The last post in the thread says,

i found driver AR8151 (driver in Attachment)

works for 32 or 64

Attached File(s) zip.gif AtherosL1cEthernet.kext.zip ( 91.82K ) Number of downloads: 232

The kexts need to be installed. It's recommended to use a kext utility like Kext Helper b7 to repair permissions and rebuild the cache after you install a kext, read the directions.

Thanks for the help... damn I feel stupid. Apparently I hadn't bought the board I thought I was getting... but oh well... sound and internet.

Thanks again

Run this it will tell you what devices you have, then you can search for the right kexts. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=219584

Or if you think about, if they work when booting with #####, then all you need to do is look in System Profiler under extensions to see which kexts are loading for those devices. Then extract them from #####.

Well, I think that your audio kext is voodoohda, but I've seen a few versions of that file.

When you used ##### to install your audio, what did you choose? voodoohda ?
