Vancouver
I cooked up Hackintosh, here's my hardware: MOBO = GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L (DDR2 Apacer 800 MHz 2x2GB sticks) CPU = Core 2 Quad Q8400 (4 cores 4 threads) VIDEO CARD = MSI GeForce N8400GS D512H (512MB) PERIPEHRALS = standard SATA HDD, DVD R/W, and FireWire (PCI card by Logilink) Installed iDeneb 10.5 (OSX 10.5.7), and everything worked fine, except videocard - when i tried to change the screen resolution i got the bright blue screen, and had to restart with -x -v. I have no idea why video crashed and how to fix it. This seems a common problem, so someone who has experience should post a general guide (why video crashes in OS X) and how to fix it. I'll try myself and i'll post the solution when i get it to work. Cheers everybody Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247924-hackintosh/ Share on other sites

Vancouver
Open /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and write inside <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x1024x32</string> ( with ur rex) Thanks for reply, this works, but when i use <string>1920x1080x32</string> it does not work (meaning it goes back to 1280x1024) and i have no glue why it does that. I guess because my video card kexts (drivers) are messed up. Anyway, thanks for reply. Gringo Vermelho
If you get a blue screen when changing resolution, use the other monitor output on the video card. OS X like to have the primary display connected to the output that's physically closest to your motherboard. someone who has experience should post a general guide (why video crashes in OS X) and how to fix it. Google "guide for all nvidia boards", and look around for useful information here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showforum=173 Geforce 8400 cards seem to be problematic in general, there are many, many topics about these cards. If you use the forum search I'm sure you can find some useful information.
