Hello,

I'm writing you 'cause I have some problems with GeForce GTS 450.

I followed this guide: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/11/upd...r-mac-os-x.html

My OS was already 10.6.6 so i haven't installed the combo update.

I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

Ok. I tried again but nothing happens, so I decided to format all and reinstall Snow Leopard, using the guide on tonymacx. I followed the guide, before rebooting, I've installed the tonymacx86 nVidia Update, and then I've rebooted. When I start my system I have to type -x PCIRootUID=1 to boot the system in safe mode, otherwise it doesn't start.

EDIT: installed Chameleon 2.0 RC5 r693 and then Chameleon 2.0 RC5 r700, now the resolution is 1280x1024, but the informations in system profile are wrong (only 32MB RAM) and when I boot either I boot in safe mode, or it doesn't start and there is the same error.

Any suggestion? Plz.

it's not recognizing your gpu at all. setting pciroot to 1 is only recognizing it as a nondescript graphics. Try the kext below:

Hi Austin and thanks for your reply.

I tried to install the kext you linked me, but I couldn't, it says that it needs at least 10.6.5, the problem is that I have 10.6.6, so I don't know why it says that.

However, i formatted again and reinstalled SL retail, using the guide on the italian forum specific for my mother board.

My exact configuration is:

Mobo: Asus P5KPL/EPU

RAM: 2 x 2GB RAM DDR2

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.o7 GHz

Video Card: Palit GeForce GTS 450 1GB.

Now I can start my system without any problems, I've got the resolution only at 1280x1024 and in System Profiler I have:

GPU

PCIe

x16

32MB

NVIDIA (0x10de)

0x0dc4

0x00a1

Is it possibile that with my configuration this video card is not supported, or i make some mistakes because I'm newbie? XD

Your graphics card is not recognized by Snow Leopard.

I received an error saying I needed 10.6.5 or higher when 10.6.6 was installed once. Installing tonymax86's NVIDIA update (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/11/updated-nvidia-drivers-for-mac-os-x.html) after installing the 10.6.6 update and before rebooting should work.

Ok. This evening I'll try and then I'll let you know. Thank you again.

Clean install, update to 10.6.6, install Chameleon RC5, make sure you have GraphicsEnabler = Yes in your com.boot.Apple.plist. Install TonyMac's NVIDIA drivers.

It won't be detected fully in System Profiler, but QE/CI should work. If you want, add the graphics information manually to your DSDT.

if you have GraphicsEnabler=Yes, why would you need another driver?

I ghost. I don't have qe/cl activated, in the dashboard, when I add widgets they don't have the effect (like water rings), and the system is slow (safari freezes).

In another forums one user told me to put GraphicsEnabler=No and to inject an Efi string from Chameleon prefpanel, but I don't know how to do that. He told me to use DSDT using POP2 to insert some code. But I'm too noob to understand what to do in both the case.

I undestand that the problem is that the system doesn't recognize my video card.

Someone can explain me how to do? Pls.
