Hi Guys....

After searching google and some boards for hours for a solution to get this 1201PN running OS X, i tried myself (and i´m not the uber wise guy) with about one million methods.

First of all i tried out the guide posted in the Asus 1201N thread with no success. Also i changed the NBI version to the newer one.

I have two retail DVD´s one with 10.6 and one with 10.6.3 i tried them both with the different NBI versions.

No success. I couldn´t even get them booting into the install screen.

Then i remembered that i also have an iAtkos S3 V2 DVD...

Went to store, buyed external samsung DVD multi burner and tried this...

And you know what? I went to the install screen without any flags or whatever set.... ;)

So now the problem was what options to choose for the installation. After a million combinations, working installations but no starting programms many coffee, nerves and hours i found a way to get a smooth installation with some cosmetics needed. ;)

In iAtkos options choose the following....

Bootloader: Chameleon 2.0 RC4

Bootloader Options: 32 bit Boot

Graphics Enabler

Patches: /Extra

FakeSMC

Uncheck Disabler

RTC (32bit) uncheck normal version

EvOReboot

Modified Kernel: Atom Kernel

Drivers Sound: Voodoo HDA

Drivers PS/2: Voodoo PS/2

Laptop: Battery

That´s it.

With that options i can install 10.6.3 without any problem and without DSDT.

System Profiler shows me at Serial-Ata "Unknown AHCI Standart Controller" and at Graphics/Display it shows me an Unknown Model but with

512MB and 1366x768...

Now i installed IO80211Family.kext for the atheros wireless card found this kext somewhere in here in the netbook section, rebootet and wireless works.

After some reboots to be sure everything is good and wanted MORE! :)

I googled a little bit and downloaded ##### from tonymacx86.com and the modified 10.6.0 Kernel with Atom support and also ComboUpdate 10.6.6.

Now i installed ComboUpdate and i didn´t reboot after successful installation. Here i started ##### and choosed the following

System Utilities: Rebuild Caches

Repair Permissions

Audio/Universal: VoodooHDA

Miscellaneous: EliottForceLegacyRTC

EvoReboot

FakeSMC

Voodoo PS/2

Bootloaders: Chameleon 2.0 RC5 Prerelease

Boot Options: 32 Bit Apple Boot Screen

System Definition: MacBook

Also installed KextUtility but you have to choose more things by yourself.

If the installation with ##### is finished DO NOT REBOOT....

Show hidden files in Finder (you can do that easily in Programms/Utilities SHOW-HIDE Files) and go into your / folder.

Delete the mach_kernel and paste the downloaded mach_kernel 10.6.0 with atom support (rename it to mach_kernel) in there.

Reboot... HAVE PHUN!

You will now have a working 10.6.6 installation.

Sorry for my bad english...i am a BRATWURST! :P

One more thing....DO NOT UPDATE VIA SOFTWARE UPDATE.

It will show you Java Update and Airport whatever Update...something crashed the working 10.6.6 so do not touch it.

iTunes Update i downloaded from Apple Side.

So good luck with trying! :)

I have been waiting for this ever since I bought my 1201pn. :D

I am able to install 10.6.3 no problem. It boots every time and I have no problems there. But I cannot get the wireless kext to install. I have used a few different kext applications and none seem to work. Every time I restart after installing the kext I still have no wireless. (Did you use a kext installer?) And I am struggling tying to figure out how to install the kext manually. If you could point me to a link for manual install I would appreciate it.

Also I am having a hard time getting the 10.6.6 combo update and ##### install to work. I successfully installed the 10.6.6 update and ##### without rebooting but when I go to show-hide items my desktop keeps refreshing. (The top taskbar disappears and reappears over and over and finder won't respond, even after force close refresh). I will try again when I get off work but if I can simply get the wireless kext installed properly I am more than happy with sticking with 10.6.3, for awhile anyways.

Thanks for the great work your a lifesaver for me!

I had the same with that Show/Hide and the Finder doesn´t show up anymore.

Only another try helped me then it worked. Best i think is to show/hide files before combo update!

I told you in my first post.... ONE MILLION METHODS! :D

The kext for wireless i installed with kext utility...

It is this one - KLICK ME HARD!

I think this one will work for you also!

Succesfully updated to 10.6.6 with accelareted graphics (QE/CI).

Simply have used Combo update in the working system (10.6.4)

It seems to be important to use only Chameleon 2.0 RC4, because RC5 get black screen.

So be carefull with popular solutions such as #####, they use RC5!

Now I'm working on audio, Wi-Fi, etc...

Please upload your extensions, DSDT for working hardware!

Hello guys, i bought an Asus 1201PN and try to install iAtkos V3 S2 from the DVD and follow the instructions like dosenoeffna and installs ok, but when i reboot have a kernel panic.. It says Unsupported CPU ?? I choose the Atom Kernel when installing and chameleon 2.0 RC4.

I tried with cpus=1 but no success, tryed with busratio=10 or 20 and still nothing.. :)

If anyone can help me i really apreciate it.. :P

The specs of my 1201PN are:

Atom 450N @ 1.66Ghz

2GB Ram

HDD 320GB

Ion2 - 512mb (i don`t know if in iAtkos S3 V2 works QE)

Broadcom Bluetooth

Atheros Wifi 802.11b/g/n

Regards, Nacho.

Finally i can boot on my 1201PN!!! :D

The problem was in BIOS Setup in Advanced-> Advanced CPU Settings -> Max CPUID Value Limit (It was Enabled) I put in Disabled, Save&Exit, Reboot and voila!

After reboot i have installed the 10.6.6 combo update and later ##### but i choosed the last option of VoodooHDA (the most newer version), i did not installed the Chameleon 2.0 RC5 Bootloader the same as the user applix says (i have Cham 2.0 RC4 no) and after reboot and always when the system is running, on background I have always a noise sound through the speakers, on the 10.6.3 version i don't have this problem, so I think that the problem was in the updated VoodooHDA Driver.. :) But i don't know how can i do to revert to the old driver..

Another thing is i can run until now with QE/CI and so i can't view 1080p in youtube or view 1080p movies because i have lower frame rate :P

Anyone got the Ion2 running well on this notebook?? ;)
