Pk5-VM Audio loss upgrading to 10.6.6 (Time machine of previous working install available)

Firstly, to anyone good enough to check the noobs forum, thank you. I've spent a good 4/5 days on this, so if I've missed an obvious corrective post, my apologies.

Right then. I bought a Hackintosh off eBay, fully working & updated to 10.6.6. Comprised of PK5-VM, Core2 Quad-Core 2.40GHz, GeForce 8800 GT.

Like I said, in complete working order, installed using BlackCH's PK5-VM install method.

My circumstances changed so I've had to sell. The reinstall was straight forward, followed instructions, and ended up with a clean install of 10.6, again everything working.

Now the problem starts with the apple software combo update to 10.6.6. My audio devices show in the profiler, but the input/ouput devices disappear from the 'sound' pref pane. The volume icon is grayed out.

The plus here being that I used Time Machine regularly during prior use, so I have the backup from when everything was updated and working.

What I'm after if possible is directions on what to replace from the backups in order to have sound back on 10.6.6

It will be very much appreciated if I can get this done.

Thanks

EDIT: Is it as simple as replacing /system/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component with the old one and then deleting Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist and using pfix or Disc Utility to repair/rebuild caches/permissions?

You slothful dogs, I've got it done. I ended up replacing my the kexts in my extensions folder with a copy from my earlier working 10.6 install using Kext Utility.

Apparently Apple stopped support for my audio Intel AC97(?) at 10.6.3.

Even if it didn't come from here, the cumulative knowledge on this forum has kept me reasonably calm, so thanks for that. :)
