Hey guys. I've been reading the forum for some time now doing some research and studies installing mac in non apple hardwares.

I've already attempted many distros and even retail mac os SL 10.6 but no success.

iAtkos - hangs up on apple logo.

iDeneb - installation sucess but does not boot.

Kalyway - the one that worked so far (audio and video ok. LAN does not work on built in atheros. 1600x700+ resolution only).

Retail Mac OS SL - used #####, inserted mac and f5. Kernel panic occured.

My Rig:

Asus P5PKL AM EPU

nVidia Geforce GT 220

Atheros AR8121

2 GB RAM

160GB Hard Drive

I'd like to install 10.6 but it doesnt proceed to the installation. I looked up here in the forum but

only leopard is installed. On youtube iAtkos was used for p5kpl but the settings and setps were not shown. It was Portuguese or something.

So here I am wondering if you could help and give me links to successfully install 10.6+ on my board. If its not compatible with SL then I'd like to ask for help how to increase the resolution of my graphics card to 1900x900+ or something. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have the same board and had the same problem with the KP with a retail disc and #####. Mine was caused by using an IDE CD ROM connected with a USB adapter which the board didn't like. I just connected the CD ROM to the IDE connector on the board with a ribbon cable, used ##### then swapped to the retail disc and it worked fine. Give it a go and see if it works for you..

I have the same motherboard. Here is the way I used.

BIOS setting:

set ATA/IDE Configure: Enhance to S-ATA mode

Plug & Play: Yes

Suspend Mode: S3 only

iATKOS S3 10.6.3 installation note

Install Method

1) Boot from iATKOS S3 V2 DVD.

2) Select prefer language when the first screen show up.

3) When get into the Welcome screen, go to utility->disk utility (at the top bar) and choose the partition for Mac. Change it to a journaled partition and name it, click erase. Quit Disk Utility when down.

4) Click '->', Agree the agreement, chose the disk you just ereased.

5) Click the Customize button before continue & select the following options

Use all defaults but uncheck Bootloader and Check below,

Bootloader / chameleon V2 RC4

Patches / RTC / RTC & RTC (32 bit)

Patches / Sleep Enabler

Drivers / VGA / nVidia / Enabler / NVEnabler

Drivers / Network / Wired / Atheros / Atlansic L1E

click 'OK'

6) Click 'Install', let the disk install the system. During the installation, have to touch keyboard and move mouse occasionally. Restart the computer when done.

7) Take out the DVD, ReBoot from HD. Setup account. All done.

8) In this case, Chameleon modified the booting sector and boot to 32bit Mac OS X system (F8 for booting option) by default.

Have fun.
