Help on USB Wireless adapter Edimax issue

I have experienced such a strange issue. About a week ago I decided to install SL on my Acer Aspire 8735g (18.4" WUXGA Full HD 1920 x 1080,Video 1GB-DDR3 (64*16*8) NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M,Intel Core 2 Duo processor T6600 2.20GHz ,4GB DDR 3 (2x2GB), Mobile Intel PM45 Express Chipset , Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet BCM5764, Intel® WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g_n ). After the successful instalation I discovered that there was no way I could connect to the Internet. So today I bought Edimax EW-7711UMn usb wifi adapter ( http://www.edimax.com/en/support_detail.ph...1&pl2_id=44 ) and installed the latest MacOS drivers. The strange problem I faced was that in Mac OS I succeeded in connecting to the router and even in logging in as root, but I didn't have Internet access. So I decided to use my Windows 7 OS to check if the router was the reason for not having Internet access and I discovered that everything was fine - that's how I am typing right now.

So I am kindly asking for any clues, hints and any kind of information that could be helpful for me.

PS: My router is D-Link DIR-300 with firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp1 (07/26/08) std
