NVidia Geoforce 8400 GS issues

Hey I just wanted to add to the users having issues with the Geforce 8400GS series only, i can't vouch for any others, i had spent 3wks, kernel panic-ing, re-loading my os, kext's ,scripts, etc, etc, when i all the while i had the right card in another computer, it's also a Geforce 8400GS, but the difference is that it's a PCI and not a PCIe, here is the model that gave me issues and the one that works right out of the box,(DO NOT PUT ANY EXTRA G-STRINGS IN YOUR com.apple.boot.plist, leave it blank with just your simple boot args)

 

Problem child:

Sparkle Geforce 8400 GS PCIe 1024mb DDR3 DVI/VGA/HDMI, (stay away from this card)

 

BOOM! works with no effort

 

PNY Geforce 8400 GS PCI 512 DDR2

 

 

Now my Conclusion, is that is it possible, that my system running on DDR2, would not work with a video card with DDR3 memory, hmmm, oh well, i'm buying another PNY for the other computer i robbed. Hope this helps.

Mine worked out of the box, EVGA 8400GS 512MB PCI-E card.

 

I didn't expect much from the card, but it's actually quite poor performance wise.

 

I'll be upgrading it soon, waste of $35 if you ask me.
