JohnJ317
My first attempt at building a Hackintosh or a computer has been a tricky one. Following the #####/##### method, I have great success until it comes to the last part after ##### has installed. After the restart, my monitor (HPW2207) makes a white noise sound the entire session and the wireless card in the tower (Asus WL-138g v2) is recognized by the Airport but refuses to let me add my home WEP-password protected network; I've repeatedly have typed the correct password in but it never takes. Once I've updated/changed the /Extra and /Extensions folders with the post-installation files provided from Lifehacker and restart; the system encounters a mismatch kernal system failure. Anyone who knows as to why this might be happening and/or what could be a possible solution. Thanks in advance. humm3r
What video card do you have? that white noise seems familiar, my macbook pro late 2008 does the same thing but only in bootcamp. turns out it was an nvidia issue. a specific driver revision for windows fixed it, and any other version the noise comes back. it depends on brightness, brightest or lowest has no noise and anything in between has more, peaking right at 50% brightness. BNICE34
I don't know much about the video problem, but as far as the password issue, try making sure your caps lock is not on and vise versa. If that does not work try play with the shift keys while entering the password. Just a thought....idk.....Hope it works! stidrvr
Im still a noob at this, but you said theres a kernel mismatch. Are you allowed to change the kernel at boot? I know that I can change kernel before the system boots.
