Mutant_Tractor
Hi Guys! I'm trying to do a vanilla install of 10.6 on the below spec: EVGA E760 X58 Core-i7 980X 6GB Corsair Dominator GT (3x2GB) 2x OCZ Vertex 2 SSD's Samsung SpinPoint 1TB Generic BD-Rom 2x ATI HD 5870's I believe there is a problem with running 5870's on SL although I may be mistaken? Anyway, I have tried installing to a USB from my MBP (Which will act as my existing OS X install) and the mobo will NOT boot from the USB which is very bizzare, It wont even go past the POST info screen with the USB plugged in.... I don't have an enclosure for sata drives either so the only option I believe I am left with is to install OS X direct to the SSD internally by first installing a distro This is where the problem begins, After some boot flags (-v cpus=1 busratio=25) and removing 2GB RAM I managed to get the iAtkos S3 V2 disc to get to the install screen, from there I successfully partitioned my SSD to GUID and Mac OS Journalled and customised the install with the usual (Chameleon V2 RC5, NV drivers (Im using an old 7800GTX during installation) left the normal kernel in (maybe my error?)) Upon restart I again put in the flags -v cpus=1 busratio=25, looked to be working but then just rebooted, tried -x -v cpus=1 busratio=25 too but no such luck, all it ever does is reboot, It doesn't ever hang on a KP so that I can read what's wrong. Tried Kalyway too but I didn't have any luck with it either... Currently installing Ubuntu 10.10 x64 to extract the DSDT.aml file so that I can edit it to allow 12 cores. Does anyone know what kexts are required for this motherboard? Also what is the best way of installing chameleon, I have heard on a separate partition to the actual OSX install itself? So I humbly ask the gurus of OSX86... can someone PLEASE help me get at least a distro running on this machine so that I can tinker from there? Thanks!
