seninha
Due to the fact that my ATI4870 died I bought me a ATI 5870.Beeing this a card that is recognized by OSX 10.6.5 i decided to do a new install (also because old one was made using iAtkos DVD) First thing I did was installing 10.6.0 from my retail DVD using ##### 2.5. After that I installed 10.6.4 combo, and finish this using ##### 3.1 and own DSDT.aml (made it using DSDT auto-patcher) System then started normally, only 5870 was not recognized. Next step, upgraded it to 10.6.5 using combo update and again finish it using MB 3.1. (again using own DSDT) And now the problems started. As soon as i start without using ##### CD system hangs at next point: NTFS Driver 3.3 [Flag: R/W] NTFS volume name , v. 3.1 NTFS volume name , v. 3.1 After that I updated to 10.6.6 again ending with MB 3.1 And again system stops at the same point when starting without ##### CD (here an old screenshot from 10.6.5) When I look at my Log files I see more lines: Jan 25 16:24:36 Mac-Pro-van-Alberto-Alcaraz kernel[0]: Refusing new kext com.apple.iokit.IOAudioFamily, v1.8f1: already have loaded v1.7.6f2. Jan 25 16:24:52 Mac-Pro-van-Alberto-Alcaraz kernel[0]: disk0s5: ioctl(_IOR,'d',79,4) is unsupported. My system contains 2 SATA drives. First one 250gb is for Windows 7 and is divided in 2 Second one, also 250gb, is used by OSX only. Does anybody have any idea what the problem can be? And why does 10.6.4 works with same configuration without any problem. Also would like to know "why does system boot without any problem when using ##### CD" Does the CD have a special way of starting the system? seninha
Just an update. To be sure that ##### + ##### is not given the problem, I did a clean install using Boot CD from MaLd0n. Installed 10.6.0 and updated right away to 10.6.6. After finishing I run GA-P53-DS4.pkg (again from MaLd0n) But this also gives me the same NTFS problem. I can not even come into OSX using the Gigabyte BootCD. Hope someone have an idea how to make this work.
seninha
Well it seems that problem with NTFS is solved. What I did was first DISCONNECT my Windows 7 HDD.(NTFS drive) After that I booted OSX without CD, but I get an ERROR.. Looks like system could not find a loader???? (maybe is the loader installed somehow on the NTFS drive, no idea) Started OSX using ##### CD, run MB 3.1. Restarted system again without CD and then......SYSTEM BOOT's. So it seams that the Loader somehow was installed (by #####) on my Win 7 drive. seninha
Well, now I can really say it's solved. This is how system was set up. -Windows HDD as nr 1 and OSX as Nr 2 in BIOS -Dual boot was managed by EasyBCD. It's seems that Windows HDD being first to boot was something that OSX did not like. That is why I first DELETED EasyBDC inside Windows 7. Then placed OSX HDD as nr 1 in my BIOS. (Picture not from my system) And use Chameleon to choose which OS i want to start. Only thing I just can't make work is that when system stops at Chameleon bootloader, it does NOT continue booting OSX after a couple of seconds. I need to press ENTER to make it continue. Which Boot Flag do i need to do this? Already have : instant Menu=yes and Time Out=3 in my plist. I thought that time out meant it will continue booting after 3 seconds but that does not happen.
