Dell Inspiron 530 and IATKOS S3

Hello Everyone,

 

First, thanks to everyone in this forum for helping me get my Dell Inspiron 530 running OSX.

I have a few questions in regards to the IAtkos Release and "A Chance of Snow at 530"

 

System:

 

Quad Core Intel Q6600 2.4ghz

3 Gigs of Ram

500GB HD

Integrated Video (will update soon)

Integrated Ethernet (need to know how to get it to work)

 

I used spectheintro guide and redash Mini Guide to install IAtkos S3 onto my system (huge thanks).

 

Here are the steps I have followed.

 

1. Created iAtkos s3 usb loader (Chameleon RC5)

2. Installed IAtkos s3 / Custom Install with AHCI, Intel Gigabit (Intel82566MM for network), AppleHDA for audio

And NTFS 3G

3. Install completes and I can load Snow Leopard.

 

Problems.

 

1. According to spectheintro guide I should know install the ktext located in "A Chance of Snow at 530", unfortunatly the link provided in the guide is out of date and the updated "A Chance of Snow at 530" on the ktext site does not have a folder called "KTEXT"

 

2. If I try and install Chameleon within Snow Leopard and then reboot I see the apple screen and then the (/) symbol or a message telling me to reboot.

 

3. I tried installing Chameleon through the Iatkos installer the second time around but that does not work either.

 

Where I am now.

 

I have reloaded Snow Leopard using the steps I outlined earlier. I am at 10.6.3 with no working sound or onboard ethernet (I have read this is a pain to get working, but I would like to get advice on how to get it to work). The video of course is limited and I will buy a compatible video card soon.

 

I would like to know A.) What I need to Install to get my Hackintosh to be bootable B.) Where to find the Ktext folder mentioned in spectheintro guide or an update on what has changed since that guide.

voodooHDA.kext for your sound, search for the e1000.kext for your ethernet.

 

try and install the chameleon again, and if it gives you problem, boot with -v so we can troubleshoot what the culprit is. screenshot / picture would be a big help.
