GrigioInverno
Hi, i'm trying to install iAtkos S3 V2 on my pc. After the boot via cd i get the grey apple screen, with the apple's logo, and it doesn't seems to move on. I've tried to see what happens in verbose mode (-v) and i get errors like: IOATAController device blocking bus Still waiting for root device I've googled a lot and done a search in InsanelyMac, but I haven't found any clues. That's my config: Asus P5Q Pro - CPU Intel E8400 @ 3Ghz - Ram 4Gb 800Mhz Kingston - S.Video Asus HD4850 512Mb - S.Audio Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio - HD 2xMaxtor 500Gb Note: I'm using a Sata DVD Drive for the setup disc. GrigioInverno
It's the only way? I'm not much disposed to modify a BIOS, or in other way... I fear to do something wrong In your opinion it will be worth? My hardware will fit well on iAtkos? Gringo Vermelho
You don't need a modified BIOS to install or run Snow Leopard on P5Q series boards. And why use iATKOS when you can easily install retail OS X. Use one of these and a retail install DVD: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=234196 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=232885 btw, you would never know (...) but I helped buoo make those: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=232723 Make sure that your DVD drive is plugged into the ICH10 (red ports) not the off-chipset SATA controller (probably white or orange ports). Alessandro17
Non avrai problemi e ne vale certamente la pena. Le schede madri Asus P5Q sono compatibilissime. Thank you! I was thinkin' about iAtkos 'cause I thought it's more compatible with pc's hardware. In your opinion my configuration will support the retail version of SnowLeopard?

Gringo Vermelho
You don't need a modified BIOS to run Snow Leopard! It is not necessary to remove the CPU aliases from the DSDT anymore and (apart from the SLIC table so you can pirate Windows) that is the only modification that has been done to the modded BIOSes that are floating around. Unless there are other modifications that they don't tell you about: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/bios-viru...kdoor,7400.html I would not use a modded BIOS if the modding hadn't been done by myself. I was thinkin' about iAtkos 'cause I thought it's more compatible with pc's hardware. Yes that's right and that's the reason why you should not use it. The hacked DVDs normally attempt to be compatible with a wide range of hardware, which in turn makes troubleshooting extremely difficult and the system itself less stable, and of course it'll be unoptimized for your PC. Installing and getting a hacked distro to work is like gambling, it depends more on luck than skill, whereas with retail you know exactly what you get. In your opinion my configuration will support the retail version of SnowLeopard? It's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact. It's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact. So, you're basically saying that if I install Snow Leopard's Retail version ALL my hardware components will work? (that means my video card, my sound card, and so on) I'm asking you that 'cause i'm totally noob on this sector Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/244887-ioatacontroller-device-blocking-bus-on-setup/#findComment-1628570 Share on other sites
GrigioInverno
Seems like my pc is cursed I've tried to follow this guide, but I'm stuck at the Bios's part... or, to say it better : if I set "Configure SATA As AHCI" on window's loading screen the pc enters in a loop of reboots. Am i doing something wrong? Gringo Vermelho
So, you're basically saying that if I install Snow Leopard's Retail version ALL my hardware components will work? No that's not what I'm saying at all. Somethings will work, some things won't. Normally there's a few things to fix after installing retail. But this is the beauty of it, you only fix what's needed. This really pays off in the long run, it makes it easier to update and maintain as well. All the information and the files you need is available here on InsanelyMac. GrigioInverno
Here I am. I've tried something in these days, i'll reasume shortly; - switched to AHCI after a couple of trying; now windows boots without problems - burnt the SL 10.6 retail disc in a DVD DL, but I don't know if I've done well - burnt a couple of bootdisc for the Gringo's solution Now. The problem is that I can't boot from that SL iso I burnt. I don't even know if I've choosed the right one. Since I'm still waiting the Retail Disc I ordered from the Apple's Store from a month, I've tried to download an iso over the net. Anyway, with the boot disc I get an error like can't find mach_kernel and, in -v, i get HFS Signature Was Not Present I'm kinda tired... dunno what to do. I think the last option is to flash the bios and proceed with iAtkos. rilloo
I believe your DVD SATA cable has been connected to SATA E1 slot. Plug it in any available normal SATA ports and try again.
