iMac G5 logic board died. Want to replace inside with PC and turn into hackintosh?

I have an old iMac G5 a great computer but alas, the logic board died and needs to be replaced. Apple will do it for $500ish... I can do it myself for $250ish... However I was thinking it might be nice to put an intel PC with a bit more horsepower inside the G5 case.

I was wondering if anyone has attempted this?

What I would hope to do is tear out the logicboard and replace it with a PC motherboard and CPU. I'd hope to be able to continue using the LCD and power supply built into the iMac case. and if possible the speakers and mic too.

Maybe it's a long shot?

I've done a bit of googling to see if anyone else had done this but I can't find anything.

In the end it would be great to hackintosh it giving it a second life!

Has anyone else done something similar?
