Guest patel4prez
Hello again guys, I am a bit of a noob when it comes to Macs so I hope you can help me. I updated using the Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 combo update and ran ##### after it installed. I don't use sleepenabler.kext so there was nothing there that I had to delete. I rebooted the computer and...KERNEL PANIC! I have posted a picture below of the message. I am most grateful for your help, so thank you in advance. Alexdsan
Install IOACPIFamilty.kext Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/242102-snow-leopard-1066-kernel-panic/#findComment-1617407 Share on other sites
Guest patel4prez
Install IOACPIFamilty.kext Since I can't boot up into the Snow Leopard Partition of the drive, can I do that through MacDrive on Windows 7 (In other words, my question is if it is just a drag and drop process to install the kext or is it something more?)? Thank you for the reply. Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/242102-snow-leopard-1066-kernel-panic/#findComment-1617448 Share on other sites

Thank you for the reply. Yep, you can do that. This is how I do it. Simply download the needed kext, copy it, go to the Extensions folder and paste it there. Guest patel4prez
I tried replacing the IOACPIFamilty.kext (there was already one there so I deleted it and replaced it with the one I downloaded) but I am still getting a kernel panic with the same exact message. .picodev
The problem is in that Elliott LegacyRTC kext you are using.. The best solution would be to remove it and patch the DSDT (remove the IRQ's from the RTC0 device section, google it a bit). There are also some auto patchers that will do the job for you Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/242102-snow-leopard-1066-kernel-panic/#findComment-1617504 Share on other sites

I deleted the Elliott LegacyRTC Kext. Now as far as patching the DSDT goes, I don't understand what you mean at all when you say, "remove the IRQ's from the RTC0 device section". If you could please just outline a few of the steps I would need to go through/explain it a little bit clearer, I will be able to google it. Thank you very much for your help. Would something like this work?: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...howtopic=235523 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/242102-snow-leopard-1066-kernel-panic/#findComment-1617526 Share on other sites
MaLd0n
Would something like this work?: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...howtopic=235523 apply "generic" patch cmos reset RTC(cmos reset) IRQS(HPET, IPIC, TIMR, RTC) or http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=223205 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/242102-snow-leopard-1066-kernel-panic/#findComment-1617533 Share on other sites
Guest patel4prez
apply "generic" patch cmos reset RTC(cmos reset) IRQS(HPET, IPIC, TIMR, RTC) or http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=223205 Okay, so let me see if I did this right. I opened the auto patcher, pointed it to the dsdt.aml, selected generic, and applied it. Now I just reset the cmos, overwrite the original dsdt.aml (I made a copy), and I should be good, right? My system was rock solid untill 10.6.4/5 after updating to 10.6.6 I get random KPs. I cannot find the problem. My dsdt supports speedstepping, sound, wake from sleep via usb and I pretty happy and I would like to keep these features. Do I have to change something? thanks in advance! here my dsdt: DSDT.aml.zip Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/242102-snow-leopard-1066-kernel-panic/#findComment-1625998 Share on other sites
