Last night I downloaded, and installed the new generic DVD on to my PC. For reference I have the following:

Intel Pentium IV 2.4C

Asus P4P800

Realtek 8139D Ethernet

The install went off without a hitch. The actual fle copy took approximately 25 minutes or so. The on board LAN did not work for me, neither did the AC97 audio. The Realtek just worked, and pulled an IP from my cable provider. I am not sure why the audio doesn't work, and I'm looking into it. I am having an odd issue with the image previewer as well. It does not display images. I have -no- idea why. I can view the image properties in preview, and all is good, but the image is not there. Weird! Everything else works like a treat.

I am looking at Intel boards (D915GEVL?) and an SSE3-supporting processor (new Celeron?) My girlfriend is ecstatic with OS X, and instantly liked it far more than the SuSe 9.3 installation we've had for awhile.

If anyone has any input about the image viewer, or audio situation, I'm all ears. :-)

Cheers!

Trevor

Success on my P4P800 E-Deluxe Motherboard with P4 3.2G-HT

Installed using the Generic DVD with Release 1 patches. During the installation process, i disabled the SSE2 Patches because my priocessor fully supports SSE3.

Special note: It's highly suggested that you perform an "erase and install" operation. I noticed unstable performance if you put in a pre-formatted drive in HFS.

Video is locked at 1024x768 (Geforce FX5200), On-board firewire works, USB devices detected, CD-ROM and DVD-Writer are ok, Logitech MX-300 Wireless Mouse and Keyboard are functional, Onboard AC97 compliant soundcard works.

The only thing that didn't work was the on-board Marvell Yukon Ethernet. I'll plug-in my old Realtek 10/100 Ethernet card later to see if it works.

All bundled software works, Quicktime, iTunes and iPhoto worked flawlessly.

Installed software from my brother's Powerbook like Office 2004, Mozilla, Stuffit Expander, and Adobe Creative Suite 2.

I have same mainboard. But sound dont work. Can you tell me Bios spec. your board? And should I any patch?

Thanks....

On my p4p800 2.8 Ghz 1gb ram sys - everything except QE and networking works. I tossed in a network card and onboard sound works. The only thing I DID notice was things began to really slow down when I installed more and more software. I aslo noticed virtual ram ate disk space like crazy. How do I turn this off or speed htings up again. I did NOT do an erase and install I formatted in darwin 8 then popped in the dvd.

Some things work, others dont. Like certain system preferences add-ons , etc.

Cant wait for QE for the Radeon 9800 AIW.

Are there any disk optimizing apps that work on the intel platfrom or anything I can do to speed things up? I've totally removed "TPM" btw as well as any Radeon drivers.
