Gringo Vermelho Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 You cannot use a Fermi video card on 10.5.x, you must install Snow Leopard and upgrade to 10.6.5, which has Fermi support. I don't know if it's possible to get the 430 to work at all though, you're going to have to find out the hard way unless you can find posts by other people who have tried it already. Use either Snow Retail DVD + appropriate boot CD (this is the best way), [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]+[url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url], or the Hazard distro. Read this thread (pay attention, some information and files are outdated) : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=214219 You need to do your research towards the end of the thread when 10.6.5 was released and Fermi cards started to work. Look for specific steps to get your video card working with GF100Hal.kext (if necessary). DO NOT use the modified bootloader or any of the files from the first post - except follow the link to the nvidia drivers of course. ONLY install those drivers once you're running 10.6.5. To sum up: Install - Snow Leopard and update to 10.6.5. You'll be doing this in unaccelerated VESA graphics mode. - The latest drivers from nvidia - The latest version of Chameleon 2.0 RC5 and set GraphicsEnabler=y in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist - Do whatever you have to do to NVDAResman and GF100Hal.kext to get the drivers loaded - sometimes you must add the video card device ID to the drivers manually. This final step might not be necessary, I don't know if the 430 GT is supported out of the box, or even if it works at all. Research! I'm still working on getting iPC up and running, but since you're using Ubuntu, you can use GRUB or BURG for multiple OSes.
