cdelatorrejr
Greetings everyone! I am fairly new to osx86 and Hackintosh. I have to say, I'm greatly impressed. I installed iATKOS v7 on my laptop with an NVidia GT 425M video card. I have checked various posts on this forum about kext for my video card and I haven't been successful. If anyone has successfully installed a kext or a compatible kext for my laptop video card, I'd much appreciate some information. Thanks. -cdelatorrejr Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241395-greetings-one-and-all-problems-with-nvidia-gt-425m-on-iatkos-v7/ Share on other sites
David23
It's supported only in snow leopard 10.6.4/10.6.5, in leopard 10.5.7 none. In 10.6.5 with chameleon rc5 you need only the graphics enabler in the com.apple.boot.plist without any injector. cdelatorrejr
Thanks David. I'll look into install Snow Leopard 10.6.4/10.6.5. I'll let you know on my progress. I was able to install iATKOS s3 v2 (10.6.3) without much problems. The wifi and USB mouse all work. I attempted to install the Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5 combo update. About 3/4 of the way in the update, i received some errors. After which, I get errors booting osx86. I re-installed iATKOS s3 v2 (10.6.3) for now. Any one have advice? I have the same card on my computer and i have updated to 10.6.5 with new nvidia drivers and rc5 644 and graphics enabler. However, memory size is 0 when booting, instead of 1024 MB, and so, no booting at all. Is there a way to fix that? Via DSDT perhaps? I have tried GFX strings but no luck Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241395-greetings-one-and-all-problems-with-nvidia-gt-425m-on-iatkos-v7/#findComment-1613688 Share on other sites

Aside from the video display, I estimate my system is 90% functional. My ASUS N53JF has a 1920x1080 resolution. My system defaults to a smaller display. Even though my graphics card is a NVidia GT 425M, my system recognizes it as an Intel graphics card with 1024 x 768 resolution. Can someone tell me how to enable the correct resolution either through the kernel or loading the correct kext? Thanks. - cdelatorrejr Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241395-greetings-one-and-all-problems-with-nvidia-gt-425m-on-iatkos-v7/#findComment-1613743 Share on other sites
toleda
My ASRock Vision 3D has the hm55, i5-560m and GT425m, running 10.6.5 with the recent Nvidia drivers installed, On the DVI port (though a DVIi to HDMI adapter) and GE=Y, it boots as expected, fully recognized with QE/QI (see screenshot). On the HDMI port With GE=Y, the system boots fine but no display. I can screen share into the system and see the card is enabled with no displays connected. Removing and replugging the HDMI cable has no effect. GE=N gets to the desktop at default resolution and unrecognized. GraphicsMode=any resolution has no effect. When I try to enter VESA mode, Chameleon proceeds with the boot before I can enter anything (VESA works on the DVI port). I can see there is no HDMI signal from my receiver display when I get the black screen. No problem with either port in Windows. How do I set HDMI to be the primary display and stay connected during and after boot? Thanks. sys_prof___graphics.tiff Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241395-greetings-one-and-all-problems-with-nvidia-gt-425m-on-iatkos-v7/#findComment-1615831 Share on other sites

I do not know how to set the HDMI display to be the primary but hopefully someone can respond to that specific problem. The question I have for you is, I attempted on various reinstalls the Mac OS X 10.6.5. combo update which basically results in numerous errors upon reboot. I have always just reinstalled iATKOS s3 v2 afterwards. Also, I downloaded the drivers for Mac directly from NVidia. After installing, reboot also resulted in errors. I am "green" in terms of osx86. If you wouldn't mind, can you tell me step-by-step how you got your system to recognize the NVidia drivers? I am starting from a clean install of iATKOS s3 v2. Thanks in advance. - cdelatorrejr Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241395-greetings-one-and-all-problems-with-nvidia-gt-425m-on-iatkos-v7/#findComment-1616065 Share on other sites

For my system, I use a recent version of Chameleon which recognizes the GT 425M automatically. Take a look at tonymacx86. cdelatorrejr
Yes. Select Drivers and Bootloaders/Bootloaders/Chameleon 2.0 RC5 Pre-Release and Customization/Boot Options/32 bit Apple Boot Screen. Reboot. I followed the directions and installed Chameleon 2.0 RC5 Pre-Release and the 32 bit Apple Boot Screen from the customized option. When I boot, my system gets a kernel panic and keeps rebooting. I did noticed the error when i used the -x option. It fails the load the NVidia patch. Do you know how I can get my machine back to a working state? Thanks. I have not used the iATKOS so I have no knowledge of the package. Good luck This weekend I'm going to update the bios despite my laptop being fairly new. I google'd around and read that many have upgraded to the latest bios. I'll try a clean install of Snow Leopard and upgrading to 10.6.6. I'll keep you posted and thanks for your input and help. - cdelatorrejr Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241395-greetings-one-and-all-problems-with-nvidia-gt-425m-on-iatkos-v7/#findComment-1622099 Share on other sites
