agent999
WiFi: I currently have a Linksys WMP600N IEEE 802.11a/b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 - 2.4HGz / 5GHz Which seems to be causing problems with my Snow Leopard install (randomly hangs with SBBOD, it seems like it mainly happens during heavy SATA access). I have disabled the kext to test out the system, and have no problems when this card is disabled. So I am interested in replacing it with another PCI WiFi card. My building has a great deal of wifi networks, so it is very preferable to have a 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz (dual channel) card. I really prefer to have a card that works natively, or at least is recognized as an airport card. I want to get away from having to use the RaLink Wireless Utility, since it is either the utility or kext for the chipset that is causing issues on my install (Mobo is the Evga 750i nForce chipset). Any suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance. Verdant has suggested either the Edimax EW-7728In or the Aria Extreme N PCI for maximum compatibility, but neither offers 5Ghz. If I can not find a good 5Ghz solution I will probably go with the Edimax EW-7728In. Video: I currently have a BFG nForce 7900 GS 256MB. I think its time to upgrade. I want a 1GB card, with full Snow Leopard compatibility, one again native Snow Leopard support would be ideal, but I dont mind installing some kexts. Performance in Open GL is important for Photoshop / After Effects / Cinema 4D. My current system config is: EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI FTW ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80580Q9300 OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel XFX PVT71PUDP3 GeForce 7900GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI inksys WMP600N IEEE 802.11a/b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 - 2.4HGz / 5GHz Native Instruments Audio Kontral 1 USB Audio Interface Western Digital - Caviar Black 1TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive (Snow Leopard 10.6.5 running vanilla kernal) Western Digital - 7200 RPM IDE 300GB (Leopard 10.5.8 iDeneb, I think its using the voodoo kernel) 3ware 9650SE-4LPML KIT PCI Express Lanes: 4 SATA II (3.0Gb/s) Controller Card w/ 3 160gb 7200 SATA WD (used for disk cache etc) Thanks again in advance.
