gritmaster
I succesfully installed OS X 10.4.5 (Jas) on a Dell GX270 with Integrated Intel Extreme® Graphics 2. Unfortunately, the system boots up in 256 colors (as was the install process...luckily I had installed before so knew what to click). and Display Settings only list the 256 color option. Upon bootup, I can see there are several drivers that have the infamous incorrect permissions problem, but because of the 256 color, I can not see what they are (the text is extremly distorted). Is there any way to somehow get a list (i.e. a text file) of drivers that have incorrect permissions? Maybe a startup log? That way I could copy the list to a flash drive and view the list in windows and use Terminal to repairt permissions. I'm hoping that the 256 color limiation is because of an incorrectly loading driver ------OR------- Has anyone else had 256 color issues with the Dell GX270 or Integrated Intel Extreme® Graphics 2???? How did you fix it?? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24090-dell-gx270-and-256-colors/ Share on other sites
letni
You don't have a 256 color problem (more like a 2 color problem), you have a problem where your 845/865 chipset bios isn't allocating enough memory for video (only 1mb) where most boards have updated bioses to give them 8MB of shared video ram which OS X will work with. Goto dell's website and see about updating the bios for your machine.
