Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB Audio

I have a USB Fatal1ty HS-1000 headset by creative. It works fine with leopard, tiger, and all versions of windows on my laptop. For some reason however, when i'm using it with snow, i get perfect sound quality for a while (anywhere from 10 seconds to half an hour) before it begins to crackle. The crackle gets to the point where all i can hear is white noise, and the only way to get sound back is to unplug/plug back in.

 

I've installed a firmware update for the headphones to see if that will solve the problem, but no luck.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
