Hi, I have been having problems with my rig involving shutdown and sleep. When I shutdown, it goes through the normal process and powers off, but reboots normally after about 5 secs, so you have to kill the power when it initially shuts down. When I attempt to sleep the computer, it goes to sleep, but then it reboots too after about 5 secs, but goes into a rapid power on/power off loop.

I have had some intermittent problems with sleep and shutdown. When I moved about six months ago, I had issues with the computer not booting, which resolved after I removed and reseated the hardware, reinstalled chameleon it worked, but would not shutdown properly. This is mostly the same hardware I used for 10.5, as well as 10.6. I have had to replace the video card as well as the PSU.

Now i have tried messing with kexts, switching to cartri bios, changing back and redoing by DSDT, and I still at a loss. At one point I had a perfectly working system, but it is now a PITA to have to always yank the power just to turn it off. I am not sure if my problem lies in software or hardware, and if it is hardware I am not sure what would be causing it (PSU, MB?). To top it off, my sound doesn't work, but I am going to switch to USB sound to stop having to mess with it.

Currently I am running chameleon with native power management, and in my E/E folder I have

fakesmc.kext

nullcpupowermanagement.kext

legacyHDA.kext

sleepenabler.kext

I am not sure what I should do next to investigate. I am including my current DSDT in case anybody wants to look at it to see if I screwed anything up.

Thanks if advance.

Evan

Add in boot.plist

<key>GeneratePStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GenerateCStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>

remove nullcpupowermanagement.kext and sleepenabler.kext

I used the DSDT file and made the changes involving the kexts and the boot.plist and it still won't shutdown or sleep, otherwise it's working as usual. Any other suggestions? I'm at work so I won't be able to test anything until tomorrow.
