Shutdown while running and not booting anymore?

Hi all,

 

i succeeded to install iatkos s3 osx 10.6.3 on my dell inspiron 1525.

i have chosen chameleon rc5 as bootloader and the default kernel that the dev of iatkos has packed into it, whatever version it is:

 

10.3.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.3.0: Fri Feb 26 11:58:09 PST 2010; root:xnu 1504.3.12~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

 

ok almost everything works fine now except that i still need to do the sleep trick to get the x3100 vga working.

 

now to the actual issue:

this morning i left the system running because an installation was still busy (it was ableton live, if that matters). in the evening i came home and my notebook was powered off. and no, my dog doesn't know how to shut down osx

 

ok, i was like, no worries lets power it up. but no go! the bootloader immediatly stopped when loading the kernel and nothing happens. a few times retry, battery out, battery in, no difference.

i was like, no ...

 

i decided to reinstalll the boat loader to try to fix the issue. yes, a pretty desperate attempt, but you never know. and when the install menu was about to show up, bang the notebook powered off immediatly. hmmm. ok lets try again, i powered it on without the dvd and guess what...

 

...it boot's like nothing has happened.

 

can somebody tell me what might have been the issue here?

or give me some suggestions on how to find out what went wrong?

 

is it possible that the system went into hybernation during the day and my notebook was trying to load that hybernation image but wasn't able to boot it?

and by the way, if there is a good fix for that sleep trick, i'd love to know that too

Nobody?

 

in the past days it happened quite often that my system powered off just like that.

sometimes it reboots and sometimes it just stays powered off. could that be a thermal issue?

 

in /var/log/system.log i can see a lot of those messages:

please, somebody advice what to do.
