I am by far no expert with voodoohda yet, but make sure you have the sound device selected in system preferences > sound > output

Otherwise for me all I had to do was upgrade the OS to 10.6.5 and the sound control started working. it is up to you if you think that is a good option, but if you do decide to upgrade be sure to do a time machine backup so you can roll back if needed. (or just do an A&I from install disk if it stops working.)

Thank you both. I used ##### but that didn't seem to install the drivers for my motherboard, low graphics, no ethernet, no sleep and no sound. I ended up reinstalling OSX and then did the combo update to 10.6.5 and downloaded/installed the kexts I needed.

Turns out the audio kext I needed was : VIAHDA.kext which I got from kexts.com

Volume control is working great now. Thanks again otacon and stofchi for helping me out.
