Where to purchase Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail DVD?

Hi All,

 

My Sony Vaio will be delivered by Christmas!

I am planning to install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on it.

While browsing some of the posts here, I found some posts mentioning "retail DVD" while some mentioned the "upgrade" DVD.

So, is there any difference between these? or do both mean the same?

 

I searched for the "non-upgrade" snow leopard DVD. And could find it only in stores of some shady online stores.

Apple Store has only the "upgrade" snow leopard DVD going for some $29.

And the sales person from apple store seemed to know only the "upgrade" DVD for snow leopard.

Of course there is the "Server" edition of the OS but I dont need that.

 

Where do I purchase Mac OS X Snow Leopard retail DVD?

Please let me know which one You used and where did you purchase it.

The $29 Snow Leopard upgrade DVD from the Apple Store is a full install DVD that works on any Intel Mac (or on a compatible PC using the appropriate Boot132 CD or DVD…… )

Hey Adam, I don't know if you are a college student, but if you are, check your school's website to see if they have any discounts for the iso. I was able to get it at 1/3 the price on my school's website.

 

Which Vaio did you get? I'm currently trying to get my laptop up and running, but having a lot of trouble getting all the software I need to start up. I have a VPCS111FM, you?
