(solved) Asus Rampage III extreme

Hi fellas,

I am currently switching from a one year successfull experience with an UD5 to a RIIIE. My UD5 installation was fully functionnal and rockstable. Before the switch i have prepared the ground a little bit for the Asus.

DSDT+BIOS : I get on IM an untouched dsdt derived from 1102, i applied fixes to it. (i will extract it soon myself but i'd like to be aware of the right BIOS configuration first).

With the gigabyte one i used to set AHCI, HPET 64 bits, S3 and that was quite all to have a boot and arrived to the SL desktop.

With the Asus one there is plenty of options, i am able to set the AHCI, and S3, no HPET inside, and there is i am quite sure something new i have to set to make a boot sequence functionnal, but what ?

EXTRA : Just Fakesmc in my extra at the moment. Which kext do you use in your extra folder for my information if you have this board ?

BOOT.PLIST : Do you specify the ratio and core numbers ? I didn't at the moment.

LOADER, GRAPHICS : C2RC5 with C/P-States, flag GE=yes with a 8400 GS "OOTB"

So, i use my previous installation but i have to dig out what is the problem. My SL partition is recognized but the boot sequence just stop at a certain point. The spinning wheel don't come. Even no kernel panic, it's just stop.

Last information on verbose is :

IOAPIC : version 0X020 Vectors 64:87

IOAPIC : version 0X020 Vectors 88:111

I you have some leads or clue to help me dig out what's the matter i will appreciate it.

EDIT : i have extracted a dsdt myself (i used one found on italian section here on IM) and now i pass these states. I get the desktop but only in -x for the moment, some extensions problems to solve i guess.

Thanks.

Boot freeze after : AppleTyMCEDriver::start coreVIDPID = 0x2c418086 Number of packages = 1 Number of cpus = 8 memory monitor trough MCA freeze

I guess it is related to model identifier ? With the UD5 i used to have MacPro4,1 end then MacPro5,1 without problem.. will look further.

HI,

Have you made any progress on this? I just started building RampIIIEx+980x, and was able to install SL10.6.3 (retail) plus 10.6.5 combo by using tonymac's latest #####+#####. I have reboot/shutdown issue, and can't get audio to work. All other components seem to work. My disk is plugged in to Marvell 6Gbps port, and bluetooth, lan was working oob. I've installed usb3.0 kext, but have no way of testing it. I will also test eSata port tonight. TonyMac's package contains JMicro kexts, so hopefully this would work as well. CPU is not recognized, but according to forums 980x should be. I will post more info once I get all to work.

Cheers
