EpithetMusic
I just want to let you know I finally got this working. In fact I'm on it right now. I have working Ethernet, USB, and booting without any flags. I don't have full resolution support, or proper CPU recognizing. I used the new nawcom Mod CD v0.3.1 after not having any luck with the v0.3.0 Then I used the retail 10.6.3 and it boots fine now. Love it. I was wondering what I have to do to update to 10.6.5 without breaking my installation. I have the combo update already downloaded but I've seen problems with USB after update and I also want to preserve my legacy kernel. Any complete guides for this? EpithetMusic
Had a kernel panic when I left the house and came back. I'm thinking it might be because of screen saver. Any ideas? EpithetMusic
I did. I got tons of kernel panics and hangs at install. The trick is to reset the bios to default. Then change ACPI 2.0 to enable and SATA chipset to AHCI. Then try to install over and over until it works. Try resetting bios every couple of tries. I used nawcom Mod CD v.3.1 with Retail 10.6.3 dvd. Then updated with 10.6.5 combo update. Then used kext utility to install 10.6.4 usb kext so I didn't loose kext. Everything works except no QE/CI for the video card. Only one resolution. Thanks for the reply! You mean I cannot install (or should not install using Hazard DVD)? It's good to know that retail OSX works on this pc. Also how did you modify the Ktext after install? Or did u use TransMac utility for windows to modify the image..then re burn and reinstall? Thanks! Ellis
Correct me if I'm wrong anybody, but I'm pretty sure you won't break your installation by upgrading to 10.6.5, seeing as you installed a retail version in the first place. But I guess there might be issues with compatibility such as USB, not sure what to suggest for that. Ellis
Well, the other day I installed OS X 10.6.0 on my rig which worked alright, but then tried updating to 10.6.5 and my keyboard and mouse (USB) no longer worked. I gave up and uninstalled it. akiNikki
Well what you should do is, to get ready with Legacy_Kernel 10.5 before you install the update. After you update it, don't reboot just yet. Install the kernel first and reboot. With that you'll have proper USB working without the need of 10.6.4_USB fix. I get those tips from nawcom too btw Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/239643-working-amd-system-1063-thanks-nawcom-update-help-needed/#findComment-1606335 Share on other sites
Ellis
Ah ok. I've decided that, at least for the moment, I'm giving up on Hackintoshes. I had a perfect dual boot with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and OS X 10.6.2 (it was the latest version then) at one point, that's good enough for me. The real novelty of Apple products is that they just work. That's where a Hackintosh kind of defeats the object of it. Maybe when I build a new computer for gaming, this one can turn into a Hackintosh rig Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/239643-working-amd-system-1063-thanks-nawcom-update-help-needed/#findComment-1606337 Share on other sites
