Hichhiker
Well, out of curiosity I installed OS/X on a Dell Latitude C840. I get no audio (a few kext errors at start relating to AC97) but it is generally it is running ok... Except if I leave it idle, exactly 10 minutes later it freezes up. I timed it, it is EXACTLY 10 minutes. Now, I thought it may be screensaver, but I can run it manually and it is set to 20 minutes. Then I thought it was the BIOS power management, but all features except for SpeedStep are off while it is on AC power. I turned off speedstep, so in 10 mins will see , but somehow I doubt it is it. (Edit: Yup, still froze up with all power management off in BIOS) Any suggestions? (Keep in mind I am not an OS/X expert so you'll have to type slowly ;-) I am very comfortable with unix though) In case it matters, I installed from JaS 10.4.6 DVD Thanks. -HH P.S. Pointers to AC97 driver fix would be appreciated too, but I can search the web for that :-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23935-freeze-up-after-10-minutes-idle/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
Try going to System Preferences -> Energy Saver and turn all things to Never or off. It sounds like it is trying to go to sleep and that is causing a problem. Most people have problems waking from sleep, not going to sleep. Got the audio done too (OS/X is pretty damn picky with its driver permissions) On to figure out Dell TrueMobile 1150 drivers... :-D Thank you, -HH Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23935-freeze-up-after-10-minutes-idle/#findComment-160085 Share on other sites
