"EBIOS read error" on boot, and random crashing

Sometimes when I turn on my computer or restart, i get this error before bootloader screen

EBIOS read error : Device timeout

Block 0x0 Sectors 0

I can usually hard shutdown and try again, and after a few times the computer will turn on. I've been putting up with this problem for a few months, but now, in addition to this I've been having other problems, like random crashes about once a day. So I'm hoping they are related.

I did install while having 12gb of ram in, could that be the problem?

Just had a kernal panic, and this covered the screen:

panic(cpu 4 caller 0x4b11a3): "sbflush: sb 0x9c6bbd40 so 0x1d7b9990 cc 0 mbcnt 196352 mb 0x8eb3cb00 mbtail 0x8ebb6700" "lastrecord 0x8ebfb700\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1504.7.4/bsd/kern/uipc_socket2.c:1238

Debugger called: (panic)

Backtrace (CPU 4). Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack)

Then it list a whole bunch of these things: 0x9c6bbc78 i think are memory addresses.

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: Final Cut Pro

Mac OS version

10f569

Kernel version:

Darwin Kernal Version 10.4.0: Fri Apr 23....

System model name: iMac11.1

System Uptime.....

What other information can I gather to help solve this?

Thanks

I get that bios error if I leave a usb thumbdrive during boot up. As far as the other problem I don't know.
