forch
anyone? Yes it will, I'm on a A660-11M (i7-720QM, NV330M, etc) and I'm writing this message from OSX 10.6.5, from an external 23" LED monitor connected through HDMI. You can see my work here I have replaced the wifi with an Atheros AR9285 (which works oob with the 10.6.5 kexts). It seems the A660 series have all the same bios, I'm having a lot of troubles with it (not regarding the DSDT, those are pretty ok!), for example: at the moment I'm unable to boot from the HDD with any bootloader I tried (and all variations and techniques), I'm using a black nano usb (it's exactly 0.4cm's in width ). I'm unable to get 8 cores working (using 4 cores atm). I would recommend another thing, upgrade it to a cheaper 30GB SSD, it will save lots of time reinstalling and rebooting the system. Booting, counted from the first apple logo appearance takes about 3 seconds. Cheers Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/239082-osx-on-toshiba-a660-166/#findComment-1615024 Share on other sites

Cheers Hi, i'm another a660-11m owner, pretty Noob but i love to experiment First of all sorry for my bad english, but i just don't want to use translators to write this post, i'm lazy . I just want to share my experience relating the installation of macosx on this lappy: installed booting from TonyMac's ##### then Hazzard 10.6.6i Distro just because SL Retail dvd didn't work for me. Forced to use string -x busratio=12 cpus=1 to make the magic, installed like a charm without checking any other stuff during installation (bootloaders, drivers, etc). Rebooted then F8, selected the newly OSX partition and same string as before, osx booted correctly. Video resolution is 1024x768 at first boot and no bootloaders already installed, so just executed Tonymac's #####, installed ##### Install than rebooted. Ejected the ##### cd and booted directly from the HDD, the Video res now is 1366x768, Dual Monitor ok, USB ok, Wired LAN ok, WiFi not function, Trackpad Tap available after set into System Pref (syspref crashes but it's ok), no gestures at all, no 2,3,or 4 fingertips. Solved "forced to use string to boot correctly" changing the value "Kernel Flags=blank" into "arch=i386 busratio=12 cpus=1" in the file called "com.apple.boot.plist" into /Extra folder. Sleep make the system to reset. Loaded Sleep_enabler.kext to solve it, now the system don't reset anymore but no sleep at all (screen flashed, sleep image created in /private/var/vm). Updated via software update with no issues. Fan is always on. Show "battery status in menu bar" in syspref didn't work. Time Machine Works. Reset & Shutdown Works. Any help is welcome to solve the issues above. Thanks in advance. ----------------------- Toshiba Satellite A660-11m, MacOSX 10.6.6 Hazzard 10.6.6i Distro - Tools used: TonyMac's iBootCD, TonyMac's #####, Kext Helper B7, KextUtility, Hardware Info. Gabecm
Hi I have a almost Identicle system the Cpu will only work with cpus=1 so you will only get 1 core, so no use of 4 cores and 8 threads (looking for a fix) with the GPU don't install NV enabler or anything, It will work out of the box, if you install nvenabler you will not be able to use HDMI or VGA outputs Blu ray works out of the box with iatkos l1 (os x 10.7.1) if the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are 4313, You are not in lick unless you find a fix in which case send it my way XD so when you install use these flags "cpus=1 graphicsenabler=yes" Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/239082-osx-on-toshiba-a660-166/#findComment-1758046 Share on other sites
