Hi,

this tutorial shows how to bring back your mousepointer with one

click. This is no one-for-all solution, so you'll have to personalize the

settings in Step 3 and Step 4.

Read Step 3. carefully, because you don't want to end up with a wrong

display resolution. :poster_oops:

It is not as much stuff as it seems to be but I wanted to make it simple also

for people who haven't used iKey yet.

What do you need?

1. iKey. It is used, to trigger a hotkey or mousebutton.

2. the attached Archiv.zip file at the end of this posting. It contains the actions and a compiled script.

What does it do?

You can press a hotkey/mousebutton, and iKey will launch a script, that

will quickly change your resolution for a second. After that, you will have

you pointer back without having to restart, and no distorted lines anymore.

Ok. And thanks to quixos for the hint in this thread :hysterical:

Step 1.

Download, unpack all, install iKey. Copy cscreen from the unzipped folder

in your programs/utilities/ folder.

Step 2.

- Launch the iKey editor:

- Import the two files iPhoto.ikex and Keynote.ikex:

importyp1.gif

Step 3.

The settings in iKey are currently set to 1280x1024 32bit color and 75 hz

refresh rate. If you need the same settings, then you are done now and

can go to the last Step 4. If not, then it is very important that you

type in your resolution and refreshrate now.

Simply follow the red numbers in the next screenshot. Do this for the iPhoto

AND Keynote task at 1. and for both lines at 4.

The second line at 4 will be the line, with your correct refreshrates.

The first line will have the same values, but take another refreshrate,

e.g. 60hz if you normally have 75. We do this, because we need to make a

short change of the refreshrate in order to get our mouse back.

Step 4.

Also, I configured iKey to launch the mouse refresher with my "mouse-button 3".

Maybe you want to have another button or hotkey, so you can do this by following

the red numbers in the next screenshot, and then remove my setting there,

and add your own:

- Quit the iKey editor AND quit the iKey engine:

- Restart iKey from your /programs folder to activate the tasks.

Thats it. Now you should be able to quickchange the resolution and bring

back your pointer.

Yeah!

Thank you very much,my friend! Im in this trouble for a long time,So i finally find the solution to it .

But,my monitor is LCD in my laptop. the refresh rate is 60, Can i change it to 75 in The first line.... (in step 3) ? Or what's the configaration to LCD's ?

I am looking forward your reply! hehe

Thanks again!

Thanks for your effort. ;)

I follow the steps.

In step4, I remove your USB Device Event, use Keyboard Event instead.

and delete USB event in iKey Editor Library window.

(If I don't do this,it pops alert window when I restart the iKey every time)

After quit iKey editor & quit iKey engine.Restart iKey!

Everything should be OK.

But when I open iPhoto, then press the hotkey I set, it doesn't work at all.

I finally find that when iPhoto running,

I must first open the iKey Editor window & click the "test" icon in the Editor,

the function excute normally.

After this step,

the hotkey works...

But I must do the step mentioned above every time .

I don't know why this happened.

I've tried the iKey method and the ResolutionSwitcher, but none works. cscreen does not do anything at all, and resolution switcher does not bring the pointer correctly...

If anyone has more ideas let me know, I will try

I have a 19" LCD ViewSonic VA912b

AMD3000+

os x 10.4.6

1G ram

SATA ...

Hi, this should be no problem because I have an LCD here, too. You can change it to 75 in the first line, or check another value if you think 75Hz is too high. (My LCD is running at 75Hz all the time, so i don't think that it will harm your display.) :)

Have you tried to select "generate events when keys ae released" in the iKey launcher Action?

Maybe this fixes the problem. :):hysterical:

You should see some effect if you start cscreen in the terminal application. You cannot simply launch it by doubleclick it, because it is a command app. Thats why it has to be launched in the terminal via iKey.

If you don't believe it, open up the terminal and type

/Applications/Utilities/cscreen -d 32 -x 1280 -y 1024 -r 60

where the red 60 has to be replaced with your desired display frequency. Also make sure that the cscreen is in Applications/utilities/ or change the path.

I did it ,but the result was the same.

When I pressed the hot key I set (I try F1 or F1+ESC),

the system sound appeared that seems I pressed the prohibited key.

Sometimes when I setup the iKey Editor (pointing the iKey icon on the menubar) the program crash.

I don't know why.

But anyway, thank you for your help.

Yes. I have tried again ,but it doesn't work ......

When quit the iphoto ,only change the resolution will work, the mouse point will be back again...so it doesn't need to change the refreshrate....

xtraa:

will you please make another archieve. only use the keyboard event, and set the hotkey is F5(or some other key combin),then put up the archieve,so we needn't change it ,only change the resolution......hehe

thank you for your effort!
