unklbuck
Hello. I did some extensive research on mac compatible parts and pieced together what I thought would create the least headache installing OSX. I started with a Asus P7P55D motherboard after initially wanting a GigaByte mobo. I read a few reviews on the Asus and they surpassed the GB by far. I bought it new from Newegg.com. Next, I installed an Intel i5-750 LGA1156 chipset I got used from a local guy off craigslist. I also got from Newegg an MSI N250GTS Twin Frozr 1G video card. As for power supply, I bought a Seasonic S12 Bronze 650W unit. I purchased two WD Caviar Blue 640GB hard drives for a dual boot system. One was going to be for Windows 7 and the other for OSX. I have since gone solely with OSX and have all but reformatted the other WD drive to use as my "time machine." I also have an external Seagate 1TB FreeAgent drive. I might use that for something else. Haven't decided yet. I cash flowed this venture, so it took me some time to get all the parts together. Once I had all the parts together, I assembled them in a new Apevia X-SniperG case. The installation method I used was from tonymacosx86 using ##### and #####. It was a snap. I made a disc for #####, ran it, swapped it out for the SL install disc when prompted, and followed the rest of the instructions. No custom kexts to make. Nothing. Thank you to TonyMac for making it so easy for me. Ampage
Nice one man, I tried the ##### cd but in the end I ended up making a flash drive install with chameleon for mine. For newbies with good hardware, that #####+##### guide is perfect. Very simple. Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/238245-success/#findComment-1591274 Share on other sites
markpeterson
Congrats on your build! Feels good to be successful, I felt the same "high" after getting my EP45 to work.
