I have read on the OSX wiki that XFX ATI Radeon HD 4650 can work out of box with snow leopard by simply changing the plist option of graphicsenabler to yes

However I have seen on youtube videos that people have got it to work using saphire cards, I have not bought my graphics card yet so I am just checking if the XFX one will work

This is the one I was thinking about buying

Yeah, I bought my 4650 based on the same entry then spent about 6 months banging my head against the monitor trying to get dual screen to work.

You are very lucky though as thanks to Svenmike we now seem to be able to get our 4650's working fully!

If you read towards the end of the thread, follow Svenmike's instructions and you should be in good shape. Make sure you read carefully as there are notes regarding both PCI-E and AGP in the thread.

Many thanks for your assistance :(

However I recently read on the osx86 wiki that it could be fully working on 10.6.4 using this method

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.6.4#ATI

but for 10.6.5 it is not in the supported list

Can you confirm that the Graphics enabler and adding device ID in 10.6.5 ?

I would recommend reading through that thread as I stated earlier. I can confirm that I am on 10.6.5 and fully working. I am using an interim method that Svenmike developed though. He has developed an improved system though that I would recommend trying over the method I used. I am planning to set aside some time this weekend to put his new method in place on my system. I do not anticipate any problems but I will be posting any notes I have on that previously mentioned thread.

Also, don't ever rely on the wiki. That thing is horribly dated and new info just gets piled on top of no longer valid old data. When you want to know whether or not a piece of hardware will work, put in the time and search the forums. You will find detailed notes on HOW hardware was made to work versus quick yes or no that you see in the wiki.
