Okay so I'm trying to install Mac OS X 10.6.2 onto my laptop (specs below) but I'm having a few issues with it so here's what I've done since last night:

1) Created a LiveUSB with Linux Gparted to partition my hard drive.

2) Worked out my partitioning as follows:

Windows 7 - 65.8 GB (NTFS)

Mac OS X 10.6.2 - 65 GB (HFS+)

Ubuntu 10.04 - 10 GB (ext3)

Default Windows Recovery - 8.? GB (NTFS)

Everything partitioned fine.

3) Ran the Mac 10.6.2 install DVD that I created using my MacBookPro

This gave me a few issues. At one point it stuck at the Apple Logo for 30 minutes without loading so I turned it off.

the second time it held up on a back screen with code after using the F8 > -v method. I let this sit over night and still nothing happened.

This morning I tried again and it got to the Apple logo again and I flipped the power switch on my laptop and it loaded up and took me through the install this time. It seemed to install fine, it just won't run because I foolishly installed an Intel based version on my AMD machine.

4) Ignored Mac until I could do more research. So I installed Ubuntu 10.04 from a Live USB. At this point the computer is using the Ubuntu Bootloader, (At least that's what it says at the top of the loader) and I would prefer to keep this but if I need to use something else I will.

5) I downloaded the Marvin AMD Utility and tried to patch the OS X DVD but this didn't work. It would get about 2/3's done and the program would crash.

So I was considering doing this

Using the Gparted partitioner to split my mac partition in half again. Install an older version of Mac that works with my AMD machine, and then use the AMD Utility Patcher from that partition to patch the 10.6.2 partition. (I just don't know if it will work across partitions so if anybody has any answer for this I would be appreciative.) After the 10.6 patch is completed and I know it works, I could then again use the Gparted partitioner to erase the partition with 10.x.x and extend my 10.6 partition.

Do you think this would work or will it be a waste of time?

If it is a waste of time, do you think there are any other methods I could try to get this done?

My machines specs:

2.00 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60

2 GB DDR2 RAM

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150M

150 GB (5400 rpm)

Any suggestions/help/alternate-methods would be grateful. I'm trying to avoid having to start all over from scratch but I feel like I'll have to.
