D A R K S 7 A R
Alright, so after quite some time I decided I'd try to install OS X again. This time, it was more of a success, and I was able to enjoy the internet with Macintosh running, rather than being restricted to offline usage only. However, I've stumbled on a new problem. When I plug my headphones into their corresponding jack, OS X does not recognise their existence. They're a set of Sony MDR-XD200s, and I absolutely love them. I've used them a ton since I got them, but my Windows 7 Ultimate installation recognises their presence. I do not know what I have done differently with this installation to my previous install, though I cannot enjoy my music through my headphones at the moment, which is a shame as I tend to listen to a lot of music. If anyone can provide some advice, I would really appreciate it. I don't know much about my system's sound, though I know it is a Realtek of some kind. The laptop itself is three years old, and is a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Li2735, if that is of relevance to anyone here. I've looked through the sound options in System Preferences and they have not really helped me any either, so I'm now hoping someone with more experience in the area of OSX86 installations can provide me with some answers. Thanks! Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/237502-fujitsu-siemens-li2735-not-recognising-headphones/ Share on other sites

D A R K S 7 A R
8086;Intel Corporation;284b;82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller;Multimedia controller;Audio device The above is all I can find by way of 'Devices' when I look in that System Info application. As for the Audio kext I have installed, the below is all I can find: VoodooHDA.kext;0.2.61;82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller;0403 According to PCI Express, that is an "UltraATA/100 IDE Controller". Does this mean anything? What should I be doing now? Thank you for correcting me about bumping posts - I'm impatient, and sorry for that. Thank you for any light you could shed upon this situation. Those numbers don't help unfortunately. I thought those laptops had realtek audio chips. Is there anything in "System Preferences"? Anything in "System Profiler"? What about in Windows under "Device Manager"? EDIT I think I read that if you use voodooHDA that you remove appleHDA and/or HDAenabler -check it out Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/237502-fujitsu-siemens-li2735-not-recognising-headphones/#findComment-1589435 Share on other sites
D A R K S 7 A R
According to System Profiler's option 'Audio (Built-In), here is all that appears: Device ID: 0x17341123 Audio ID: 0 System Preferences doesn't really have any features for sound that I can see. I've tried playing with different settings in it, but nothing seems to work. I have VoodooHDA installed, and nothing there really appears to provide an answer either. I think my laptop might use some Intel sound card or something, but I know in Windows that it uses Realtek sound managing software. I've had another idea that might have some possibility in it, but I am not sold. When installing previously, I selected the '32-bit boot' kext to be installed, but when installing this time, I did not. Could that kext be making all the difference, and if so, is there an easy way to install it, such as sticking the disc in, selecting the hard drive and adding the kext through the 'Customize' option? Oh, and I probably would have been wise to say earlier, but I'm using iAtkos S3. Dellmantt
Could be right about the 64bit kext, I don't know. Thats the trouble with Distro(s) IMO Try the kext from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1496947 and install with "Kext Utility" And yes it is a realtek chip should show up under Device Manager/driver details Ok using GOOGLE find this http://www.amilo-forum.com/topic,1897,-Fro...lo-Li-2735.html Follow Audio driver link http://218.210.127.131/ Looks like your Audio chipset is ALC889 So http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&...q=&gs_rfai= Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/237502-fujitsu-siemens-li2735-not-recognising-headphones/#findComment-1589447 Share on other sites
D A R K S 7 A R
So, what should I realistically be seeking to do? Should I attempt to add that experimental kext? If this doesn't work, will having a kext I do not need potentially act against my system, or can I just delete it and carry on using OS X as normal? At the weekend I might try running my iAtkos S3 disc and changing it to 32-bit boot to see if things improve. If they don't, I tried, and that is the main thing. I am just showing you how to search for alternatives & how to identify your hardware. Teach a man to fish..........
