  • 2 weeks later...

hi people. so i changed bios settings to AHCI and all, and can successfully get into install screen with -v.

after formatting the hard disk to mac journaled, I was able to hit install with the drivers i selected

however it is stuck at 18 minutes left for what seems to be an eternity. 2 hours to be precise.

I am quite certain that there is no progress, because the hard disk is cold and the progress bar does not animate, showing only a static pattern of blue. (the cursor however, moves)

any help is greatly appreciated.

hi i just tried that, but i was yet again stuck at 18 minutes left. this time the blue bar animates but the disk turns cold again.

i waited for about 30 minutes before giving up. do you have a gauge of an appropriate amount of time to wait?

I don't remember the exact time but it shouldn't take that much.

Are you installing on an sata drive or an IDE one?

i am not sure but i disabled the onboard IDE and changed SATA mode to AHCI. apparently that does not suffice. will trying another distro like iDeneb provide more success? because i saw on youtube a phenom/ecs set-up that worked with ideneb. speaking of which, what is the latest version of ideneb available? source seem to suggest only 10.5.8
