J Lamp
skypete; There's the easy answer and the hard answer. You say your new at this so the easy answer might be to try kexts.com and try out the legacyHDA.kext and the HDAEnabler.kext there that are specific to your hardware. That should get you going. There's also a lot of good stuff over at tonymac's site that could be useful. The hard answer is DSDT editing. This took me months to fully wrap my head around, but if you're in to this like a hobby, it's the way to go. I built my first hack on exactly the same board and can tell you with certainty that if your willing to spend some time you can get everything working perfectly. I've attached my decompiled DSDT and the modified legacyhda.kext (it goes in the /Extra/Extensions folder) that I use and sound is perfect. DO NOT RECOMPILE AND USE MY DSDT! ! ! ! I've sent it as an example if you want to have a look. All the fixes for sleep, shutdown, orange drive icons, smbus, usb error over sleep, RTC Bios Reset in Snow Leopard, etc., there all in there. The reason that you don't want to use it is that I've modified it for native speedstep (specific to my processor) and video (specific to my video card.) This DSDT is also specific to the F9 Bios in the machine. It won't work with later ones. If you this this DSDT stock, you could bust your machine, so don't!! There are tons of links in insanelymac and elsewhere to DSDT editing. Most of them are related to Gigabyte boards. Last thing, if you use the digital out and get dropouts add the smbios.plist supplied to the /Extra folder. It sets the machine type as a MacPro 3,1 which fixed the digital audio for me. 889a_Audio_Files.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236717-help-no-sound-on-my-gigabyte-ga-ep45-ud3r-using-889a-kext/#findComment-1583089 Share on other sites
