USB Nightmare on Thinkpad X200 Running SL 10.6.4 [HELP]

Hello All,

I'm having some very funny and hard-to-diagnose problems getting USB up-and-running on my machine:

1) I can mount a thumbdrive or external HDD through any one of my three USB ports. I believe they are transferring data at USB2.0 rates (3GB file in 8 min?).

2) However, one of my three ports won't even connect a keyboard or mouse. Sometimes, when I attach an optical mouse, I see the light inside flicker for a moment – but then it's gone, and I get no response.

3) None of my USB ports is delivering power, so I can't use any powered peripherals (like my wireless adapter, Alfa AWUS036H) at all.

I've used other operating systems (Linux, Windows) with the same devices, so the hardware's fine.

I've upgraded to 10.6.4 from 10.6.0 (which solved a boot-time "unable to initialize UIM" / halt-time "still waiting on AppleUSBUHCI" problem, but no improvement), off the original install DVD with some DSDT modifications per this guide (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=85344). I'm not running any USB-related kexts, and as far as I know, none of my DSDT modifications were USB-related (though I'm attaching it anyway, just for good measure).

Running Chameleon 2.0RC5rev619. I've tried USBBusFix; no luck. Any modified/patched IOUSBFamily.kext I've installed has killed USB altogether. Here is the USB-related output of my lspci:

00:1a.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 [8086:2937] (rev 03)
00:1a.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 [8086:2938] (rev 03)
00:1a.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 [8086:2939] (rev 03)
00:1a.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 [8086:293c] (rev 03)
00:1d.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 [8086:2934] (rev 03)
00:1d.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 [8086:2935] (rev 03)
00:1d.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 [8086:2936] (rev 03)
00:1d.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 [8086:293a] (rev 03)

The first entry (USB UHCI Controller #4) does not appear in my System Profiler. Heck, I have also attached my System Profile just for good measure. If it means anything, my ExpressCard CF reader is working, although I'm not certain a WiFi adapter would.

Any help or insight to this problem would be thoroughly appreciated, as I've been scouring the forums up and down for the past week now, and I've made exactly no progress whatsoever. It's driving me crazy; I need USB support to get wireless working so that my grandmother can videochat with her sister in China (no joke). If you're in the Los Angeles area, I'd be glad to buy you a beer (as long as that's not against forum rules).

Many thanks in advance,

Ryan
