Hi all

Today I upgraded my 3GS and my GF's 3GS, both were 3.1.2, one with older bootrom one newer, thus the older was previously JB with blackra1n and the newer was JB with spirit.

for both phones i went through this process.

Used pwnage tool 4.1.2 in simple mode to create a custom firmware, and selected NO at the option “Do you have an iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4 contract that would activate normally through iTunes?”, to retain the current 05.11.07 baseband.

I put the phone in DFU mode, then applied the FW with itunes 10.0.1.

Everything seemed to go fine, until i tried to make a call. I get Call Failed immediately after hitting a number.

This happens on both phones.

Anyone help?

The phone with the older boot rom had previously been unlocked with ultrasn0w, the newer boot rom phone hadn't. my GF (with the older boot rom) is swedish and needed carrier unlock to travel home on holidays.

I had assumed that the unlock would be persistant after upgrading the firmware and not the baseband. apparently this is not the case (unless someone has proof otherwise)

Solution -

I installed ultrasn0w just to see what happened... it restored perfect functionality.

So.. to any one who upgraded their 3GS from 3.1.2 base band 05.11.07 to IOS4.1 (retaining your previous baseband) thats your solution.

This may also work if you get instant Call Failed messages after JB on other Firmware/basebands

What do others think? any input on that?
