aeVolt
Hi, First post! Woot. Ive been reading for awhile but finally decided to register. I've got some questions and am looking for some help. Maybe I can get with someone who is knowledgeable or has been in my shoes and they could walk me through using an IM Client. My hopes are high Anyways Im looking to single boot (If its the easiest option) Snow Leopard on my computer. Here are the Specs: Processor: Intel Core i7 920 Mobo: Asus P6T GFX: ATI 5770 (In Crossfire, which I am willing to take one card out if neccessary in order to get Leopard to run) One problem I may run into is that I do not have access to a machine running any form of mac OSX. I have no problem with buying the CD from apple. I have done some searching and found this excellent guide: http://ibram.clandsf.com/p6tinstallsite/ but I dont have access to a computer running OSX and I will be using an ATI graphics card. I find the whole hackintosh scene very exciting and I am very grateful to anyone who lends a helping hand Thank you for your time! Astarael
As I recall support for i7 was added to OS X in 10.6.4, so even if you buy 10.6.3 retail, you may have problem running it. With no 10.6.4 update you might need modified kernel to boot. Thing about using some distro (for example iAtkOS S3 v2) + 10.6.4 combo update. It might work, but I'm not sure about that. aeVolt
Okay thank you, I am open to using any method so thank you for the suggestion with the iAtkOS S3 V2 distro. I will see if I can find some info and get a plan together. If anyone has done this successfully with similar hardware I would love to hear from them or even any tips would be awesome. aeVolt
Just wanted to post an update for anyone who cares or who has the same setup as me. I am currently posting this from my 10.6.5 Snow Leopard Hackintosh! Through the use of #####, and a retail Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Install DVD and the combination of #####, 10.6.4 Combo Update, 10.6.5 Combo Update and Snow Leopard Graphics Update I was able to get a fully functional install. Including: Audio and ATI 5770 GFX Card (Running in 1080p) This was my first attempt of Hackintosh, and only after a couple hours of reading and trial and error It worked. It really shows how far this community has come with documentation and hard work. I am extremely grateful. Thank you!
