jotokun
I have a computer that has an existing install of Windows 7 on it. I've been able to use Disk Management to shrink the partition so I had a second one large enough to install snow leopard. I'm planning on using ##### and retail snow leopard to install to the partition, and ##### to install drivers/bootloader. My main question is, this is on a MBR drive. Will this mess up my windows partition? Or will it remain intact? 3.14r2
Partition itself should remain intact (unless you do a fatal mistake). On the other hand you most probably will need to fix Windows boot loader. jotokun
Since the mac partition would be marked as the boot partition by OS X, wouldnt chameleon be able to boot my windows 7? If not, is that just a matter of putting in my windows 7 disk and running a repair from it? However it is easy to repair. jotokun
Ok,I tried formatting the partition to install snow leo on it, but it refuses to install since the partition is on a MBR drive. Is there a way I can make it work without formating it as GUID, and without another mac? I also had to fix my bootloader to get back to windows, which wasnt difficult but why would formatting a partition mess that up when nothing was installed? 3.14r2
AFAIK at least some Leopard distro disks has offered an option to install to MBR disk. Don't know about the snow leopard ones though... Also you may install OS X to a flash drive/usb HDD or a spare (borrowed from a friend) disk and then clone it to an internal HDD. AFAIK it should work. Sure there are probably more simpler methods... I also had to fix my bootloader to get back to windows, which wasnt difficult but why would formatting a partition mess that up when nothing was installed?Strange one... How did you formatted the OS X target partition? jotokun
I used Disk Management in windows to shrink the size of my current partition, booted into my mac OS installer and formated the partition as HFS+ Journeled through Disk Utility. Nothing out of the ordinary AFAIK. Might try installing to an external drive and copying it over, thats a good suggestion.
