Hey, I installed everything on my computer from sound drivers and all. Its causing my Reason 5 to Crash. I tested the demo and the full version and this is what I got. Can anyone please find the error?

I'm getting the same crash on Reason 5. I think it has to do with the way Reason is optimized for dual core intel machines. Perhaps it might need a patched kernel, or the app itself might have to be patched. I think it might be easier if the kernel has an auto patch or CPUID updates. Whatever the case, I have yet to find a solution. I'll post back if I do.

Its a "divide by zero crash" I'm getting the same crash as you and I am also running an athlon x2 4600. my specs are in my signature.

 

If you go to line 15 and 16 on your report you will see

 

Exception Type: EXC_ARITHMETIC (SIGFPE)

apparently its an error that power pc based macs dont get intel based ones do but I'm sure plenty of intel based mac users are not having this problem.

 

This is one thing I can think of so far, I installed my OSX with the Hazard distro and did NOT use Marvins cpuid utility to patch cpuids. I dont know of this could be the cause. Did you guys patch using marvins amd utility? This could help us rule this in or out.

I have logic studio (pro 9) installed working great. I wanted to use reason 5 to rewire with logic. My itunes crashed but i dont really need it. the itunes crash is not a "divide by zero" crash so dont think its related but i could be wrong. If anyone can help or say they are not having problems with their specs laid out it could help us.

It might be a while before enough people with AMD systems actually start using Reason 5. I happen to know quite a few people that have old AMD computers laying around and found new life in them by installing OSX86. Most of these people are home studio musicians that would love to have their Reason 5.0 working on more than the Windows side of their AMD systems.

 

Still searching for a possible solution. As always, I'll report here when and if it is found.

You have to use an auto-patch legacy kernel for AMD systems. These kernels patch IDs on the fly for AMD CPUs. It all depends on which version you have installed on your AMD system. Links below. It worked great on the latest iTunes for me. Hope it works for you.
