ksgriff06
I just dual booted my Gateway NV59c57u (not sure how specific I need to be). It is working great in OSX except for two issues. I have read topics on solving these but I am not sure what specific .kext files I need. The issues are I am not getting any sound (went in and tried to enable like I had to do when I dual booted my desktop) and I can't get on the wireless internet. I know these are two common problems when using the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD. My question is though can someone help me either (a) Find out exactly which .kext files or drivers I need for this laptop or ( Provide a step-by-step for installing these? Any help is much appreciated as I am still very new to the OSx86 community. Thanks in advance! ssaslam
To answer your question Try to use VoodooHDA 0.2.56 kext and remove AppleHDA kext by going into system/ extensions Hi, I have installed OS X 10.6.3 on my gateway NV59 series its a core i5 430m. I have a gateway nv5929 with intel GMA 4500mhd (Check if you have the Nvidia graphics card) it will be much easier if you do. My Specs Graphics: intel GMA 4500mhd Chipset: Type: Intel 55HM Processor: intel Core i5 430m I followed the Empire EFI v 1.085 for (experimental for i3,i5,i7) and ##### for getting the necessary kexts for it. In order for it to boot properly have to use busratio=17 -v -x -f at the boot loader screen I was able to install OS X 10.6.3 on my gateway nv5929u but when i install chameleon 2.0 RC4 or even RC5 or any kind of boot loader and try booting from it, the pc just reboots. it doesnt even go upto the MAC boot screen. I am only able to boot into snow leopard from Empire EFI CD or ##### CD. without the cd pc keeps rebooting. *Also updating it to 10.6.4 or 10.6.5 just gives a kernel panic I haven't been able to try any kexts NEXT I have heard installing OS X from 10.6.0 install Disk doesnt give any boot issues, so i am going to try it tonight. I have bought a 10.6.0 disk from ebay. I am going to follow this guide at tonymac http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=798 for installing it. For the graphics http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=223945 (This will only give you the Native resolution which is 1366x768. NOTE: there is no solution for getting Q/e and ci support for this graphics. Please let me know if there is another way to boot using 10.6.3 Thanks in advance.
